With this in mind, we were prepared when our short one-day layover in Salt Lake City became three days! The airline had overbooked our seats, and when they offered a few airline perks to our family if we would stay behind until the next available flight, we took it!!
We were definitely thrilled about the airline perks we had all just received to be used for a future vacation, but staying in Salt Lake City with our extended family, and enjoying adventures there was a HUGE perk for us too! How wonderful it was to spend an afternoon at Temple Square together as a family, and walk the grounds as well as visit the visitor center.
We watched as the final touches for the annual Christmas lights and nativity were being set up for the closely approaching Christmas holiday. Unfortunately we were just a few days early to see the thousands and thousands of lights that people enjoy here every year. There is nothing more beautiful than temple square at Christmas!
One of the boy's favorite spots at the visitor center was seeing copies of the Book of Mormon in every different language. We were all quick to search for the Mandarin copy of the Book of Mormon (for Bracken), and the Thai and Laotian (for Dad).
A quick shot of the boys in front of the Conference Center. Bracken and John were able to attend the Priesthood Session here last April, but the others have only seen the inside on TV when watching General Conference (our two favorite Sunday's of the year.)
Tyson is a Hunger Games Fanatic!! He has read all the books, and looked forward to "Catching Fire" come to the big screen. He was more than thrilled when he heard seeing this film worked into our agenda!
Have I mentioned we have the GREATEST family?!! Since we would be missing the actual Thanksgiving holiday with everyone, they planned an early dinner to celebrate just with us! Cousin time is the boys absolute favorite, and oh how we love our extended family!
While Grandma led the younger boys in a game of marbles, the big boys took on one of their absolute favorite things to do......ROOK!
Introducing our newest little cousin.....Christian Tyler Nevenner. They don't get any cuter than this little guy!!
Hola! We were welcomed to Puerta Vallarta with ice cold drinks, and made to order guacamole. Seriously, the guac had to be the MOST delicious one has ever tasted. No matter what restaurant we ate at, they always treated us with this tasty appetizer.
And this little creature......he visited us everyday at the pool. We couldn't blame him, who would pass up a pool this amazingly gorgeous??
Playing cards, football in the pool, and a whole lot of laughing.....this vacation truly was nothing but fantastic!
Relaxation was key this vacation, however, the boys did take on a day of ultra-adventure. Preston was a bit too young for this over the top outing, but he enjoyed his up close and personal swim with the dolphins instead.
This most adorable little guy welcomed us to his family restaurant. He didn't speak a word of English, but with a face that darling and big high fives to all the boys, we all spoke the same language.
THIS PICTURE MAKES ME SMILE......
AND THIS ONE TOO......
MEXICAN JOY SURROUNDED US.......
A walk in the local village was the perfect place for Parker to practice his Spanish. I have to admit it was pretty impressive, and I think the locals agreed......
A little reluctant at first to head out into the ocean on these boogie boards, but not even five minutes later these boys were hooked!
Ahhhhhh......Puerta Vallarta. How we thank you for the absolute MOST perfect and enjoyable holiday for our family. We hope to return soon!

This turned out to be the greatest vacation for your family! So glad you were able to spend a little extra time in Utah. And all of the activities your family was able to enjoy were fantastic! I love how the boys have so much fun together no matter what they do! This looks like such a great place to go to!
That's so awesome that you and your family were able to take one last vacation before Bracken left. The first cruise we took was to the Mexican Riviera, and Puerta Vallarta was one of the ports. We loved it! Your family has traveled the world, but I'm sure this vacation will always hold a special place in your heart.
