Seminary Graduation

This past school year, while most students were still sound asleep in their comfy beds, Bracken and several other Pudong Seminary Students had already began their day. Every morning Monday-Thursday, these faithful youth woke as early as 5:00 a.m., left their homes around 5:30a.m. and made the 25 minute journey to the opposite side of the city to attend Seminary from 6:00-7:00a.m. From seminary, these students took their various school buses to the seven different high schools they attend in Shanghai. They not only attended a full day of school, but also various after school events, and arrived home sometimes around 6:00 p.m. that evening to eat dinner, finish their homework, and fall into bed late that evening just in time to start all over the next morning!! The amazing part about it--they did it voluntarily and without complaints. We are grateful for Bracken's decision to be a part of the seminary program, and his positive attitude he showed even though we knew it was difficult for him to wake very early every morning. We were also proud to be part of the seminary graduation this year, and watch as six of his classmates graduated. We are constantly amazed how knowledgable he is about the gospel, and are grateful for the wonderful young men and seminary instructors he has. We look forward to watch him continue to progress through the next three years of seminary.

Bracken accepts his First Year Seminary Completion with (starting from far left) Sister Parkinson, teacher, Sister Lewis, seminary principal, President Dyer, branch president, President Parkinson, first counselor district presidency, President Lewis, district president

Bracken,
That is so fantastic! I so admire the kids who have early morning seminary because I did it for one year in Gainesville when I taught it. It is really strenuous to go and then go to school all day after that. But it is such a great and spiritual way to start a day.
We are so proud of you! You are such a great young man, and we are so proud to call you our grandson.

Congrats Bracken! Thomas had surgery today to remove 15 inches of his small intestine-he'll be in the hospital a few days. Please pray for him that he will recover and that this will maybe be the start of remission for him! Miss you- MK
