Real Life Lessons from Napoleon Dynamite

We LOVE Napoleon!  There is not a day that goes by that we don't quote a phrase from the movie! The boys have the entire show memorized, and no matter how many times we watch it, we always laugh just as much or more than the last time.  So, thanks to Napoleon for some great entertainment, and also for teaching us life lessons---like what Tyson learned today when he tuned in.

(Halloween 2006---Bracken and Parker)

The scene---Napoleon is riding to school and pulling a toy he has connected to a string behind the bus--ANYONE reading this right now that has seen the movie knows exactly what scene we are talking about!

Tyson:   Laughing hysterically--"Check out what Napoleon is riding in to school."

Older Brother :  Annoyed---"Tyson, that THING is a SCHOOL BUS!"

Tyson:  Shocked and in total Unbelief---"THAT is not a school bus!  That big YELLOW THING they are riding in??"

Mom:  More Shocked Tyson does NOT know what an American school bus is!---"Tyson, everyone in the United States rides to school in a Yellow School Bus just like that--not just Napoleon Dynamite"

Tyson:  Confused-- "But, MY school bus is not yellow like that, and I have NEVER seen a bus like that.  THAT school bus is soooo weird!" (The boys take a chartered tour bus to school--below)

Realizing that Tyson has never been to school in the United States, he truly would not know what a real-American school bus really looks like. We were grateful our day had just been more fulfilled now that Napoleon had taught some real true to life lessons, and told him......

One day soon, he too will ride the well known American "yellow school bus", and "all his wildest dreams will come true too!"

Oh my gosh! I guess he hasn't seen a bus in any other movie either? It's funny that he would be laughing at something in the scene that is the only NON-funny thing about it!My kids love Napoleon too but I don't like the whole "pills to enhance your bust" thing. My boys are a little too young for that (well at least they were when it first came out.)Tyson will get to laugh every day to school when you guys move back!

This is so funny. You can't believe what little kids really don't understand until they make a comment like this, can you?! He will be truly surprised when he finds out the yellow buses don't have cushie seats and movies in them! Hah!

Haha! I'm still laughing at the Halloween picture. Your boys are awesome. If you are fans of ND, I'm guessing you might also be fans of Nacho Libre?! You must check out my friend's blog: http://sandefrazier.blogspot.com/2009/11/we-interrupt-this-pretty-irregulary.html

That is truly the greatest picture of your two boys dressed up for Halloween as Napoleon and Pedro. That pic will always be a classic! Your blog is always so entertaining!

That cracks me up! Such a worldly child in the best sense of the word! Good thing he has Napoleon to keep him grounded.

Do the school buses in China have large talons?
