Top Ten Reasons Why We Think Our Dad is Great!

A tribute and powerpoint presentation given by Bracken and Parker at John's 40th surprise party.....(unfortunately we did not get this recorded on tape as they both did a fabulous job, and truly was the highlight of the evening!)

(Bracken)  Dad, the big 40 is really here!  Tonight Mom, Parker, and I have put together a list of the top 10 reasons why we think you are great....Parker will start us off.

(Parker)
#10---Our Dad is Fashionable--ok, reasonably fashionable.  Every summer we look forward to our "Back to School" shopping day with our Dad.  He always helps us find the greatest styles, and can shop for hours!  He is even known to outshop our mom, which is pretty hard to do.  Our Dad always looks great himself, and just last month we were proud when we found out he was asked to model for this magazine cover...

(Bracken)
#9---Our Dad is Organized---Our Dad is a busy man, but is great at organizing matters at home, work and church.  Here is an example of his organization skills at home.

Notice the shirts organized in color order, and hung very precise.  He has also managed to organize the closet space so our mom gets a few closets and he has the rest.

(Parker)
#8---Our Dad is a Hard Worker---Our Dad is usually the first one up, and the last one to go to bed.  He rarely sleeps, which sometimes causes him to fall into unexpected cat naps.  It's fine if it happens at home on our comfy couch, but not so great when we have seen him asleep at church meetings or business matters.

(Bracken)
#7---Our Dad is a Hard Player---Our Dad is not only an extremely hard worker, but a hard player too.  For anyone who wants to witness this first hand, just ask him to play you in cards, Monopoloy, or even Settlers.  He takes his game playing seriously.  Since it is your birthday, we won't mention who usually wins.

(Parker)
#6---Our Dad is Smart---Yes, we won't deny this is true about our Dad.  However, not to brag, but we have taught our Dad a few important daily skills ourselves.  For example, we have taught him a lot about texting.  Texting does not require spelling every word out.  "IDK" is easily translated to I don't know, or you can quickly use "BRB" in place of be right back.  Using "text talk", we have taught him you don't have to worry about spelling correctly or proper English skills.  We also must not forget to mention how much we have taught him about what "good" music really is.  If is weren't for us, he would not have known how easy it was to purchase specific songs for your I-Pods by just using your Dad's credit card number!  And one more thing---we know if he would really try, he could learn a lot from our X-Box and computer gaming skills too!

(Bracken)
#5---Our Dad is Generous---Living in Paris, and taking the metro basically everywhere we needed to go, we witnessed him daily giving to homeless and beggars on the streets.  He has taught us giving to others doesn't always mean money, or giving something giant or expensive, but doing what you can to help.  Even though generosity is one of his best characteristics, NEVER and I repeat NEVER borrow his socks without asking first!  Trust us that his socks are not a free for all, and he can (and will) easily spot them from across a room on your feet!  So, tonight we have bought you a pair we promise we will not borrow, or take without asking......

(Parker)
#4---Our Dad is Open Minded---  Let us break this down.

(Bracken)
#3---Our Dad is dedicated to our religion---Our Dad has a strong testimony of our beliefs.  He continues to teach us the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and is a great example to his 4 children.

(Parker)
#2---Our Dad is dedicated to his family---.  Even though our Dad carries a lot of responsibilities outside of our home, we all know his first priority is his family.  We appreciate he always makes time for us, and is there for us whenever we need him.

(Bracken)
#1---The Most important reason we think our Dad is Great is because he is a perfect example of what a Dad should be, and what we desire to be like one day.

(Parker)  We love you Dad!  Happy 40th Birthday and Many More!!

I'm still trying to get over the fact that you have 14 closets in your room! With all of those closets, I'm sure you have a guest bedroom. We should come and visit you! I love the idea of having the party at a karaoke club. I need to start thinking about this. Gavin's 40th is next March. I may be emailing you for more ideas! Are you coming in town this summer? If so, let's get together!

John is such a great person, Alison!! You and your boys are very fortunate to have him in your lives. Please wish him "Happy 40th Birthday" from us.

(By the way--your closet space is amazing!!!!)

Awesome tribute. Your boys are so good. They have great examples in parents! Someone asked me the other day a wedding that stood out to me and it was yours and John's! White dresses with the pink flowers, lots of dancing and yummy eclairs, and the song "Forever Young." :)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. I love Ang's comment about the most memorable wedding. Your's DOES stand out in my mind...but for different reasons: hot-dog rolled bangs, fluffy white wedding dress, and the most amazing bridesmaids' dresses ever! Oh wait, that was Angie's wedding. :)

On a more serious note...I love the tribute you guys put together for Johnny. He definitely deserves it. But if I could add one more tribute...it would be that he is one Bad-A! No one can pull off driving a black Acura like he can! Happy Birthday, Johnny!

Can't wait to see you guys in a few weeks!

xoxo,
Ames

I would have loved to have been there to hear the tribute to John from the boys. I know how capable they are of pulling things off in an impressive way--so sincere, but so entertaining.
