Parker continued his birthday celebrations by not only jam packing a van full of friends, but also managing to find a spare spot for his dad, and of course, our driver. Completely squished, but happy, the crew headed far across Shanghai to a place that is proud to exclaim:
"IF YOU'VE GOT THE GUTS, WE'VE GOT THE BALLS!"----A Paintballing Haven (:
Immediately following a full day of paintballing fun for a great group of teens, John made a quick change and executed his well thought out plans to now make sure my birthday was nothing less than perfect! With reservations at a popular steak restaurant in Shanghai, (my favorite), a couple gifts that definitely got thumbs up, and tickets for me to meet him in Lankawi next week (an island off the coast of Malaysia), turning 40 just doesn't seem all that bad anymore (:
And talk about perfect.....thanks Mom and Dad for another year subscription for my favorite "People" magazine! The week on the beach just became that much greater!!
And the most lovable present of all.....my Hello Kitty doll that my sweet sister Amy had John hide from me for several months until my big day arrived!! Although it suffered a little smoke damage from the fire--- it endured---- ironically just like our love for Hello Kitty has since we have been kids (:
and yes.......as quoted by Socrates, I mean my sister.........
"Sisters ARE more important than life itself!!"---(still sounds as deep as many, many, years ago when she first quoted this Copeland family favorite Amy quote)

Happy Birthday Alison! Sounds like a great time all around. John is certainly spoiling you... or he's tryign to keep up with the kick butt party you threw him last year! Miss you guys so much. I did another race two weeks ago, which made me think about how awesome you guys were to keep my kids for me when I went to Nanjing. Believe it or not, your service to our family that day was just as memorable as completing the race itself. We love you guys so much!
Happy Birthday! You have a sweet husband to make the effort to spoil you on your special day!
Sounds like forty will be a great year for you. I love the photo of you and John looking like a couple of jet-setters which you are. Can't wait to hear about your fabulous trip to a new part of the world. We loved Thailand which is pretty close by. I also agree with Amy's quote or Socrates or whomever it came from..."Sisters are.....important"
Such a great post! John is such a thoughtful husband to make your day so wonderful--I should say your whole month so wonderful! The gifts, the dinner, the trip--everthing is so perfect! Tell Johnny, he's doing such a great job of taking care of my daughter!
