I learned that in FHE

Yesterday Tyson came home from school with a paper about the pilgrims and indians, and the story of the first Thanksgiving. As we looked over his work from the day, he told us, "I told my teacher I already know all about the pilgrims and indians, and the Thanksgiving story because we talked about it in Family Home Evening." We all had to smile knowing his teacher had no idea what FHE is, but we do, and we have a strong testimony of it in our home! There is not one Monday morning that goes by without one of the boys asking, "What are we doing tonight for FHE?", or "Who is in charge tonight for FHE?", or "Today, can you call and order some Root Beer from the SuperStore so we can have Root Beer Floats tonight for FHE?"

Since Thanksgiving is this week, we spent Monday night reading "The First Thanksgiving", followed by a fabulous conference address President Monson gave several years ago entitled, "The Attitude of Gratitude." After the message, everyone wrote down three things they were grateful for on slips of paper, folded them, and put them in a bowl. Then, one by one, each person took one of the slips of paper, drew the blessing on the board while everyone else tried to guess what it was....in other words "Pictionary."

Here are some of the "blessings" family members had written on their slips. (Of course our drawings of these blessings took a bit of imagination---some took a lot longer to figure out than others. We decided that when Parker was drawing we had to have the most imagination!)

Blessing--Dad's work, and the opportunity to live overseas.

Blessing---A warm house to live in.

Blessing---Great Friends from Everywhere

Blessing---our neighborhood ("I can ride my bike all over")

Blessing---Our School (all 3 of the boys put this one in)

Blessing---Family (We have the greatest!)

Blessing---Good Health (Our greatest year so far!)

And a few blessings contributed by a certain someone--

Diet Coke

and....banana bread!

May we always have an attitude of gratitude, and be thankful for things big or small. Happy Thanksgiving!
